Since it is the month of Halloween we have asked our reviewers to do there Top Ten Paranormal Creatures and Krista is kicking us off with her top ten!

1. Vampires

Classic. There is just something about a brooding, statuesque human looking creature that have this inner demon inside waiting to feed on you. I find them the most appealing and dangerous to us because of our human attraction to them.

2. Ghosts

This is more opposite than I feel of Vampires. Ghosts have this borderline question to them that really lies in our belief system. They are something that lies just beneath the surface, you cannot see them unless they want to be seen, but can still be crossed off mentally within ourselves as not existing. The concept is intriguing and frightening at the same time.

3. Werewolves

I have always been a critic of werewolves. Especially those that are human that turn at any time they want to. I find that those could technically be shifters. But those that have a true nature to the moon and their changes are completely controlled by the moon, something outside themselves make them less human and uncontrollable. And that is frightening to me.

4. Banshee

Something you don’t see often in today fiction world. But one of my favourite series The Soul Screamers series by Rachel K Vincent handles this topic perfectly and it has shot up from the bottom of my list to upper levels because through her books the connections banshees have to the other world is wonderful and scary.

5. Zombie

Another creature that I am always skeptic about. I have always imagined zombies to be completely brain dead, stinking rotting things. But seem to be more attracted to the stories that are newly turned Zombies that still have brain function and are torn emotionally between eating somebody they are for or not. So they are in the middle for me

6. Dragons

A creature that may border on the word “paranormal” but never really existed in my reading world until the Harry Potter books. But I have found that I am attracted more and more to dragon stories. Some border again on humans turning into dragons (shifters) or just a pure animal dragon being that can burn and eat you in seconds.

7. Shifters (Lycanthropy)

I find that shifters are kind of the cheaters in paranormal creatures, being able to turn into any animal or creature that you want has always been something I have associated with witchcraft. As you notice I did not include witches in my list here because there are indeed real witches in life (Pagans), although it is an honest religion I find that shifters is something I would justify as a truly paranormal witch would also have in their powers to do.

8. Basilisk

Ah the  Basilisk, I am not a fan of snakes at all. They creep me out, and a huge snake that as a human I would have absolutely no way of fighting at all is what nightmares are made from.

9.Unicorns

Unicorns you say? How can they be considered a Paranormal Creature? Well, if you have a killer unicorn I think it fits, although borderline any other animal that has killer tendencies the unicorn is something new and different, especially in the dangerous world of actually wanting and being able to do harm to us. Nobody ever pictures a unicorn with a temper.

10. Demons

And down to the basics of all evil things and what lies beneath the surface of all the above things in a way. The demon is hard to explain, hard to describe in a pretty little box. The demon is everywhere, in everything and when it comes down to the gist of it. The Devil Himself. He who fights dirty, and the root of all evil.
